I Spy Book Challenge!

I was browsing YouTube this morning and I stumbled upon the ‘I Spy Book Challenge’. I really liked it so I attempted to do it too! It was originally created by BooksandLala! It works like a scavenger hunt of your bookshelves. There were 20 categories and I found a book for 18 of them! Not bad, eh?

Find a book that contains (either on the cover or in the title) an example for each category. You must have a separate book for all 20, get as creative as you want and do it within five minutes!!

1. food

30724132

I chose Geekerella by Ashley Poston for the food category because of the vegan food truck with the pumpkin on it. As I’m already using Winter by Marissa Meyer for another category, this was best fitting.

2. transportation

12000020

On the cover Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz there’s a red truck!

3. weapon

33161277.jpg

The Hammer of Thor by Rick Riordan was perfect for this, because the title is a weapon and the hammer is also on the cover!

4. animal

3437

I chose The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time by Mark Haddon. There is a dog on the cover as well as on in the title.

5. number

31214872.jpg

This is Where it Ends by Marieke Nijkamp might not seem as a logical choice, but I own the Dutch edition, which is titled 54 Minuten (54 minutes) and 54 is a number.

6. something you read

31952703

The cover of Words in Deep Blue by Cath Crowley is full off books!

7. body of water

Boektoppers-Pakket-C-Ijsprinses_1.jpg

On my copy of Ice Princess by Camilla Läckberg there is a woman under water.

8. product of fire

12292612

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins is full of flames. It’s even the title of my Dutch edition.

9. royalty

17378527

I could have gone with quite a few other books for this category, but I decided to go with The Raven King by Maggie Stiefvater! There’s King in the title so it fit.

10. architecture

23591078.jpg

This was a hard category in my opinion, but I ended up choosing Paper Towns by John Green, because of the word towns. Towns are full of architecture, right?

11. item clothing

13206760

For this I picked Scarlet by Marissa Meyer, which has a red cape on the cover. Capes are cool.

12. family member

I didn’t find anything sadly.

13. time of day

23677341

I chose the night sky on the cover of We Are The Ants by Shaun David Hutchinson for this one. It might be a stretch, but I didn’t have any books with a time of day in the title.

14. music

I didn’t find anything for the music category either.

15. paranormal being

11306615

This might be another stretch, but I’m owning it. The people on the cover of Ruby Red by Kerstin Gier can travel through time. So that makes them paranormal.

16. occupation

18667945

#Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso has a CEO on the cover.

17. season

13206900

Winter by Marissa Meyer fits with the winter season. There isn’t much more to say about it.

18. colour

24747610.jpg

I picked Sapphire Blue by Kerstin Gier for this category, because it’s blue and it’s named after a colour.

19. celestial body

20820994

I’ll Give You The Sun by Jandy Nelson has sun in the title!

20. something that grows

22978079

Lastly, there are flowers on the cover of Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater and they grow.
