Hey! How are you today? I hope you’re good! In this post I want to show you my progress on my 2019 ‘to be read’-list. Let’s start!
This is how I’ve done:
I updated you on the books I read during the first quarter of the year in this post. My original TBR post you can find here. Now let’s get into the books I read during the second quarter of the year!
To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee
I’m happy I read this book, as it’s a classic, but I found it only okay. Not much more. It took quite a while to get into the story and I had to force myself to pick this up. After the halfway point I did get really intrigued. The characters and the writing style were alright. I did really like the portrayal of Atticus as a father. As for the setting, that was very well done, but you did need to have some knowledge on American history, specifically the civil war and the crisis of the 1930. The latter I have, the former I don’t really. In the end, I gave this 3.5 out of 5 stars.
If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio
On the other hand, I absolutely loved If We Were Villains. It swept me away on a journey and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I flew through it! The setting was so immersive. This is truly a story about love, hate, murder, obsession, Shakespeare and feeling everything twice as much. The characters were morally grey and unlikeable and I really liked how it was executed. Overall, I gave this 5 out of 5 stars. I would highly recommend it!
I’m also currently reading Orlando by Virginia Woolf and I’ve gotten my hands on Not Your Backup by C.B. Lee. I’m confident I’ll succeed with this TBR in the second half of the year.
That’s all for this post! I hope you enjoyed it! See you next time!
Love,
You’re doing a great job with your TBR!
