Hey guys! Can you believe we are already halfway through the year?? It’s already Mid Year Book Freak Out Tag time! This year has been quite different from the last as I’ve been reading a lot less. Nevertheless, I’m excited to do this tag!
If you’d like to see the full list of books I’ve read this year, here’s my Goodreads.
None of these answers include re-reads.
BEST BOOKS YOU’VE READ SO FAR IN 2019
Circe by Madeline Miller, Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan and If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio. All five stars!
BEST SEQUEL OF 2019 SO FAR
I haven’t read any sequels, except for graphic novels. Of those, my favourite was Fence vol.3 by C.S. Pacat.
NEW RELEASE YOU HAVEN’T READ YET, BUT WANT TO
Not Your Backup by C.B. Lee. I loved the previous installments in this series!
MOST ANTICIPATED RELEASE OF THE SECOND HALF OF 2019
Girls of Storm and Shadow by Natasha Ngan, the sequel to Girls of Paper and Fire, comes out in November and I’m really excited!
My brain immediately went to What if It’s Us by Becky Albertalli and Adam Silvera. I ended up giving this only 2 stars. I’m quite sad about it.
I’m also slightly disappointed Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid wasn’t that full five stars. It was still a solid 4 stars though, so not a bad book at all.
Also disappointed Sadie by Courtney Summer was only a three.
My biggest surprise is actually Circe by Madeline Miller. I had read The Song of Achilles earlier and I didn’t love it as much as every one else seems to. I wanted to give Circe a chance, but I didn’t expect to give it the full five stars.
FAVORITE NEW AUTHOR (DEBUT OR NEW TO YOU)
M.L. Rio and Natasha Ngan
NEWEST FAVORITE CHARACTER
Henry from Red, White and Royal Blue (which I’m currently reading)
Also, Lei from Girls of Paper and Fire and Circe.
BOOK THAT MADE YOU CRY
Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid is the only one I remember making me full-on cry, though I have teared up with some others.
BOOK THAT MADE YOU HAPPY
Most definitely Red, White and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston!
FAVORITE BOOK TO MOVIE / TV-SHOW ADAPTATION YOU’VE SEEN THIS YEAR
I’ve been binge-watching Game of Thrones for the past two months and I’ve been really enjoying it. I’m now on season 4. It’s the first time I’m watching it. I haven’t read the books, but to be honest I don’t think I will. One medium to enjoy the story is enough for me in this case.
FAVORITE POSTS YOU’VE WRITTEN THIS YEAR
MOST BEAUTIFUL BOOK YOU BOUGHT OR RECEIVED SO FAR THIS YEAR
Most definitely my hardcover of Circe!
BOOKS YOU NEED TO READ BY THE END OF THE YEAR
The remaining books on my 2019 TBR, The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood and Girls of Storms and Shadow by Natasha Ngan!
I hope you enjoyed this post! It was really fun for me, as I got to reflect on 2019 so far!
See you next time! Love,
