Down the TBR hole #13

Hey! It’s time for another descend into the TBR hole! We’re nearing the end of my TBR. There’s only 20 books I haven’t talked about! As always, I’m excited to write this post!

The meme was originally created by Lia @ Lost in a Story. This is how it works:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books. Of course if you do this weekly, you start where you left off the last time.
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

My TBR now sits at 70 books. You can find my previous posts in this series here.

DTTH 13

Summer of Salt by Katrina Leno

I’m really in doubt about this one. I’ve heard several rave reviews and the synopsis does sound interesting. However, I don’t know if I’m prepared to buy it and that’s my only access.

VERDICT: HELP ME. WHAT SHOULD I DO?

Odd One Out by Nic Stone

I read Dear Martin, by the same author, earlier this year and really liked it! Needless to say I was very excited when I heard Stone would be writing another book. However, I’ve heard some questionable things since then. Here‘s a good Goodreads review if you want to know more.

VERDICT: GO

On Being Different: What It Means to Be a Homosexual by Merle Miller

This was once recommended to me and I added it to my TBR as I was interested. I will never actually get to it, though.

VERDICT: GO

Orlando by Virginia Woolf

This actually sounds so interesting? I also love that it’s written by a bisexual woman. My only hesitation is that it’s a classic and I might not like the writing style. I’m more than willing to give it a chance though!

VERDICT: KEEP

Circe by Madeline Miller

Even though The Song of Achilles was slightly disappointing, I’m excited to try another book by Madeline Miller. I love how she retells these classic myths I’ve studied! Also, how stunning is that cover?!

VERDICT: KEEP

DTTH 13

Peter Pan by J.M. Barrie

I really want to read this original story! I don’t remember much of the Disney movie, but I did like it!

VERDICT: KEEP

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

When looking into new classics to read, I came upon this as a recommendation. The blurb sounds interesting to me and I’ve heard it’s a good place to start with classics.

VERDICT: KEEP

The Giver by Lois Lowry

I’m just not excited about this anymore. Maybe someday…

VERDICT: GO

Chord by Chelsea Cameron

This blurb actually sounds so good! Besides, I really liked the first book in this series. This is definitely staying!

VERDICT: KEEP

There’s Something About Sweetie by Sandhya Menon

I’m hoping the heartwarming vibe of When Dimple Met Rishi continues in this companion novel. I loved that book!

VERDICT: KEEP

BOOKS KEPT: 6

BOOKS GONE: 3
BOOKS PENDING: 1

CURRENT TBR TOTAL: 67

What do you think? Would you have chosen differently? Have you read Summer of Salt? Should I keep it or get rid of it?

I hope you enjoyed this post! Thanks for reading! See you next time!

Love,

  1. I’ve been thinking of reading the picture of Dorian grey since like forever but it really intimidates me because it’s a classic! Well you never know, I tried out the great Gatsby recently and now it’s one of my absolute favorites 🙈😍
