Book Unhaul // getting rid of some popular books!

Today, I’m unhauling some books! Over the past year, my book collection has grown quite a bit and it came up to a point that all my shelf space was filled. Instead of coming up with creative ways to stuff more books on a shelf, I decided to purge my collection. These are the books that’ll be leaving my house!

The Heir and The Crown by Kiera Cass (The Selection #4 & #5)

I enjoyed both of these a lot when I read them. However, I know I’ll never return to them, especially since they’re add-ons to the original series. It’s time to pass them on. I am keeping the trilogy for nostalgic reasons as they got me through a difficult time. Book 4 and 5 I really don’t need, though.

Glass Sword by Victoria Aveyard (Red Queen #2)

I loved the first book in this series, Red Queen, so much that it even made my favourites list that year. Glass Sword was a MASSIVE disappointment though. I’m happy to let this one go. It should make space for more enjoyable books.

Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue and Emerald Green by Kerstin Gier (The Precious Stone trilogy)

I adored these back when I read them. They were adventurous and had time travel, fun characters, friendships and a good romance. The books are on the younger side of YA and I think it’s time to pass them on. As much as I enjoyed them once, I don’t see myself ever re-reading them. I won’t like them as much now and what’s the point in ruining a good memory?

The Hidden Oracle and The Dark Prophecy by Rick Riordan (Trials of Apollo #1 & #2)

As much as I love Rick Riordan’s books, I won’t return to these two. The main character Apollo is so annoying! If I want to go back to this world, I’ll pick up one of the Heroes of Olympus books, a series that is way better in my opinion. It’s time I let these two books go.

Insurgent and Allegiant by Veronica Roth (Divergent #2 & #3)

I don’t have anything against these two books. I enjoyed them both when I read them and I even did so multiple times. However, I have outgrown them. It’s time to pass them on to a reader who’ll enjoy them as much as I did a few years ago. I’m holding on to Divergent for old time’s sake.

and now for the most controversial on this list…..

A Court of Thornes and Roses, A Court of Mist and Fury and A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas (ACOTAR #1, #2 & #3)

Yes, you read that correctly. I’m getting rid of the ACOTAR trilogy. I was obsessed with these books when I first read them. The more distance there is between myself and them though, the more I can only see all the problematic elements. And boy, there are many. I can’t look at these books without experiencing negative emotions towards them. It’s time to let them go.

That’s the stack! I’m going to keep these for a month to make sure I definitely want to get rid of them. A lot of these were in the maybe pile, so this seems like the best plan of attack. After a month, I’m planning on selling them and donating the ones I can’t get sold.

What do you think? Do you agree with my opinions? Do you want to convince me to keep a book?

I hope you enjoyed this post! Thanks for reading! See you next time!

Love,
