November Wrap-up!

And yet another month has passed! I almost can’t believe 2017 is almost over. This month was an okay month for me. My reading and blogging slumps of last month is now over, so that’s great. School was still very busy though! I did have a holiday in the beginning of the month and I went to Sevilla, Cordoba and Granada!reading30555488The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead

This is the first book I finished this month. It was a very powerful read and I’m happy I’ve read it.  It was interesting and it kept me engaged. I liked the main character Cora and I really felt for her. The book made me think. The main reason I didn’t give it five out of five stars is the writing style. At times it was hard to focus on. Additionally, I sometimes struggled a bit with the vocabulary as I’m a non-native English speaker. That is not the book’s fault though, it’s mine. I ended up giving this four out of five stars!

Then I finished this and to be honest it was very disappointing. I wanted to love this as I love the cover and I was super intrigued by the blurb. Sadly, it was a let down. It was very trope-y and predictable. I saw everything coming from a mile away and I was very underwhelmed. The characters were nothing special and I didn’t like the romance at all. It felt very unrealistic. On the more positive side, it was a very quick and easy read. Overall I gave this 2 out of five stars. I think someone else can definitely enjoy this more than I did, especially if they haven’t read a lot of YA.

Next up I finished Regulus, the Latin version of the Little Prince. Of course, I gave it 5 out of 5 stars. This book holds a special place in my heart because I grew up reading it. I’m very glad I’ve now read it in Latin and I’m proud of myself for actually doing it. To be honest, I mainly bought the book as a nice addition to my shelves, but I really wanted to read it too.

Lastly, I read this graphic novel. I loved being back with the characters from the Lunar Chronicles I’ve grown to love! That was the main reason I picked it up, so it did not disappoint. The story line was interesting and I’m definitely going to pick up volume 2. There was a lot lost from the books though, it wasn’t as good. Anyway, I gave this 3.5 out of 5 stars.

Those are all the books I finished this month! I also read quite a bit more of the Odyssey and I started both Wildcat by J.P. Harker and The Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes. I have now read a total of 84 books in 2017 so far!
