Bookish gift guide

I love giving presents, but sometimes it can be a real struggle to come up with a cool gift idea. Today, I will help you come up with some ideas for the reader in your life. Maybe you don’t know what to give to them, or maybe you’re like me and you’re reading this post to come up with ideas on what to ask. Either way I hope this will be helpful. After all we want this to be the reaction when the gift is opened.
excited-baby-opening-presentFirst let’s get the obvious out of the way. Of course you can give him or her a book, but what book? which genre? do they already have this book? will they like it? and the list of questions just goes on. If you know the person well and / or you know exactly what book they want, you can buy that book. If you don’t I suggest you stalk their tbr shelve on Goodreads, ask them or get them a gift card. But let’s be honest, gift cards aren’t really personal are they? If you don’t want to give them a book, but you don’t know what to get them instead, here is a list of ideas.

Bookish themed jewelry

This can be everything: necklaces, bracelets, earrings,… It can be bookish themed in general, but it can also be themed for a very specific book. I suggest you browse Amazon, Etsy, Society6 and other sites to find the perfect item. here are some examples.

My own

A subscription box

There are a lot of bookish subscriptions boxes out there, most of them are surprise subscriptions boxes. The box gets delivered to your house without you knowing what’s inside. The items can arrange from books, book merch, candles, jewelry, tea, etc. It depends on the box you chose. These box can get quite expensive though. Popular ones are Owlcrate, Muse Monthly, MyBookBox, Nerdy Bookworm Box and several others. I suggest you take a look on Crate Joy. This is an online market place for subscriptions boxes.

Bookish candles

A lot of bookworms enjoy bookish themed candles. The scents of these candles are inspired by places, characters and other things from books. There are lots and lots of companies who make these and I’m sure you can find the perfect one.il_570xn-839789926_d6bu

Again, I suggest you take a look on Etsy, Society6, Redbubble, etc. It’s also very nice if you chose an art print ( or make one if you want to) that has something to do with his/ her favourite books. here are some examples.

Special bookish merch

By this I mean things that are mentioned in a book, for example a wand from the Harry Potter books. These are very cool to have if you’re a big fan of a certain book for which they have made this type of merch. You can find these on the authors website, Amazon, Etsy, etc. Here are some more examples.

Bookish Phone case

If you want to get the reader in your life a bookish themed phone case, you have several options to do this. You can also do this for other types of cases.

  • You can go to a shop (online or not) and buy one that is already made.

Again, by Bookwormboutique

  • You can make a personal case that is bookish inspired. You can do this on a website, or if you are creative, you can make one yourself.

  • You can buy them a clear phone case and print out some bookish themed sayings and drawings, … you can find online for free and cut them to size, so they fit inside the case. I did this for my Phone and I’m really happy with the result!

Reading necessities kit

To assemble this kit, you put together anything you think is necessary to read. That can be anything from this list, a book, tissues, snacks, tea,… I gave this to a friend of mine recently and she loved it!

And that’s it! I hope you enjoyed this post and it gave you some ideas. There are a lot more bookish themed gifts you can give, but this post is already quite long. If you look on the internet, I’m sure you’ll come across some more cool things! I hope the readers in your life will love your gifts! See you next time!
